28 Budweiser Light cost him 82 days of freedomTweet
Via the Sault Star:
Thomas Agawa’s bill for a box of brewskis he pilfered from The Beer Store when he was intoxicated is high.
The case of 28 Budweiser Light cost him 82 days of freedom.
Agawa, 20, pleaded guilty Monday to theft under $5,000 and breach of probation in the Ontario Court of Justice.
He was charged July 25, after he and two buddies took the beer from a display at the Bruce Street store.
The trio, who were under the influence of alcohol, returned some empties, but staff refused to sell them anymore because of their intoxication, prosecutor Nancy Komsa said.
Agawa grabbed the case of beer and they ran out of the store.
Two employees followed them and told them if they gave back the beer nothing would happen, the assistant Crown attorney said.
They retaliated with a “f… off,” and ran west along the railway track.
City police caught up with them behind St. Mary’s College, where they were drinking beer.
