Best Pub in Scotland has a Strict “No Kids” Rule
While I feel that most pubs are “no kids” after a certain point in the evening, beer and babies in Toronto breweries is a thing I see on the daily. Interesting that according to the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra), the best pub in Scotland is one that won’t allow children: The Bridge Inn.
Says the owner, “A lot of people that come into the pub know they are not going to be disturbed by children. I think it is more an adult playground for them.” (Aren’t all bars adult playgrounds?)
While we spent our summers crowded around beer snobs and frat boys, other people went on a beer road trip across Belgium.
Visiting Vlissinghe, Brugge’s oldest cafe at 502 years old… now that’s a summer vacation.
Fall Seasonals: The Story Behind the Nostalgic Season for Beer
This fabulous article explores the history of fall seasonals and why they aren’t just a product of the great North American marketing machine.
When the harvest wasn’t as abundant, brewers turned to whatever herbs and spices were available in order to brew. Thrilled to have that arsenal in my back pocket for the next time someone criticizes my choice of a spiced ale.
Jurors Weight Case of Man Burned by Caustic Beer
A man from New Jersey had a sip of beer and immediately started vomiting and ended up hospitalized for 6 days. Why? Burns to the mouth and esophagus. He’s claiming it was a cleaning agent found in the beer he’d ordered. File under: the only time you’d rather a beer line hadn’t been recently cleaned…
As Many as 28,000 Pubs Have Closed in England Since the 1970s
Camra’s annual Good Beer Guide is out and it’s not good news for the traditional British Pub.
With a changing economy of how the Brits drink, it’s no surprise that the economy won’t support as many pubs as existed in the 70s; a whopping 75,000!
Jennifer Lawrence Gets into a Fight in Budapest
I love J Law and not just because she’s badass enough to douse a guy in his own beer. Girl is entertaining AF and 100% top of my list for someone I’d love to sit down and have a beer with.
Look at this: Can we talk about what these accounts are? Are they instagram models posing with beer or actually people who enjoy/are educated about beer? Stumbling across this account led me into a scary part of Instagram…
Make this: Goat Cheese, Zucchini & Basil Flatbread with Raspberry Sauce
Listen to this: Shout out to my fellow opera grad from McGill, Meghan Patrick, who’s lighting up the country stage and winning all the awards
Cheers to Your 64: Currently in Edmonton for the Western Canadian Music Awards and living my best life in a city where Sherbrooke Liquor exists; a store that carries over 1,500 different types of beer. I think I wandered the aisles for about 10 minutes before even picking anything up.
Shout out to Troubled Monk Brewing, Blindman Brewing, and Ribstone Creek Brewery, all of which I’ve sampled so far this weekend.
