Your 64: I Love Cats EditionTweet
Your 64 – a weekly roundup of beer stories and news outside Ontario to inspire you for the 64 hours from Friday at 5pm to Monday at 9am – by Allegra Swanson.
As someone who’s a huge fan of the craft beer industry in Ontario, I have some beer education (shout out to Prud’homme L1!) and two paper certificates crowning me the beer mile champion (2016, 2017, nbd) but lack a role in the industry or how to properly explain the subtle terroir of the hops making up your IPA.
Here’s to the weekend; here’s to YOUR 64.
‘‘Tis the season for all of the beer gift lists. Maybe you’re in a position to buy a keg for your significant other? (V. kind of you.)
Most beer bottles opened with feet in one minute. Just let that sit with you for a second. Okay now think about trying to do one. Like, at all.
Now see how many this crazy fool managed (in an “elbow stand position.”
Jeez, Alexa, what a BUZZ KILL. (Or buzz tracker?) In all seriousness, My Alcohol Tracker was launched during alcohol awareness week and it’s intended to help raise the awareness of the link between alcohol and cancer.
You can also have Alexa tell you how many calories were in the drink you consumed and what the equivalent is in donuts… not a bad idea.
While this is an inappropriate use of a Tipi (booze inside, not of viking culture), I like the idea of a cozy viking bar. I am all “hand up emoji” for “beers, Christmas tipples, and cockle warmers.”
And yes, there is a roaring fire inside. Obviously.
“If you were stranded on a desert isla-” “PIZZA! I need pizza forever.” It’s actually sad how much I enjoy pizza.
Thank god the calorie count of a beer and pizza night keeps it less frequent… but still, give me meat lovers and a hoppy IPA after a long run and I am a happy, happy lady.
I haven’t been one to dabble in any of the fringe Innis & Gunn brews as I find their original to be a commitment on its own. Last year, the winner was a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout infused with jalapeño peppers which I could certainly pass on. Previous flavours which have appeared in the competition include raspberry and maple syrup.
I vote for something ghastly like Turkish Delight. Or Maltesers. Maybe Eggos? (Gotta get another Stranger Things reference in this week, obvs.)
Look at this: I hate cats but you all seem to love them so ugh here’s @lorenzothebeercat
Make this: Five beer-y thanksgiving dishes that totally outshine turkey
Listen to this: Never Let You Go by Kygo and John Newman (lace up those runners and hit the pavement with this uplifting jam)
Cheers to Your 64: This weekend a lot of family is in town so we’ll be hosting a huge dinner on Saturday. Then an early morning flight to Vancouver for work where I plan to explore the East Side with the Culture Crawl. While we’ve been pretty lucky with the weather so far, the Holidays are just over a month away… yikes. Stock up on your holiday mixer packs now! LMK if you have something and hate it so I can avoid buying it? Thx. Cheers!
