Founded in 2012 as Mom ‘n Hops’ Ontario Beer Guide, our publication was designed as a central hub for beverage consumers and industry seeking the latest developments in Ontario.
In January 2015, we rebranded as the Ontario Beer Network to solidify our identity and better convey our purpose, then subsequently changed to Ontario Beverage Network in December 2015 upon expanding to cover cider and spirits.
We have grown to serve more than 130,000 visitors per month from Ontario, across Canada, and the US.
Chris Burek launched the Ontario Beverage Network in July 2012 previously under the name “Mom ‘n Hops”. Chris was formerly a primary organizer and the National Director of Sales & Marketing at the Canadian Brewing Awards & Conference and TAPS Magazine. There, he lead the introduction of cider into four categories and implemented new beer styles including Session Ale, American-style Brett Beer, and American-style Sour for the 2015 awards year.
Through OBN, he has forged meaningful partnerships with industry, trade, community, and important stakeholders to the benefit of both.
Chris is a Cicerone Certified International Beer Server, MBAA-Certified Beer Steward, and holds a Level I Prud’Homme Beer Certification. Chris has stewarded awards competitions, participated in numerous brewing sessions, and is a judge at the annual Great Ontario-Hopped Craft Beer Competition.
