AGCO updates retail store policies for beer, cider and spirits

Toronto – The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) this week announced new policy updates that provide improved flexibility for Ontario’s beer, cider, spirits and wine manufacturers operating on-site retail stores.

  • Ontario’s wine, cider and spirits producers can now operate an on-site retail store and any production site. Previously, only one retail store was permitted across all manufacturing sites.
  • Ontario’s breweries, wineries and distilleries can now operate an on-site retail store at any manufacturing site over which they possess substantial ownership and control. Previously, only one site permitted at each manufacturing site, regardless of the number of manufacturers that owned or controlled the site.

Despite this change, breweries are still only permitted to operate 2 retail stores across all of their manufacturing sites.
