Amsterdam announces July ribbon cutting for waterfront Brewhouse
Amsterdam Brewery’s new 14,000 square-foot waterfront brewpub will open Monday, July 1 in Toronto’s Queens Quay, the brewery announced.
The Brewhouse can accomodate up to 500 people indoors with an addition capacity of 300 on its Lake Ontario-facing patio.
“We have opened this new facility for two reasons,” said Jeff Carefoote, owner and president of Amsterdam “– first, we want to be close to our loyal following who have supported us downtown since 1986, and secondly, we want to have a facility where we can share the art of brewing paired with great food.”
The brewery will be headed by Amsterdam’s head brewer, Iain McOustra, a specialist in complex beers including sour beer, barrel-aged, and specialty beer.
The menu, developed by Executive Chef Avaughn Wells, features contemporary dishes made with fresh, local ingredients.
“Iain [Amsterdam’s head brewer] has gone to great lengths to create some very unique flavours in his craft brews”, says Wells. Some of the specifics that stand out are the use of spices and various barrels for aging that creates unexpected flavour combinations of richness, smoky, sweet and in some instances sour. These specific traits and characteristics will be expanded upon in every dish and specifically paired with the perfect beer to marry the textures, smells and flavours creating a real dining experience for the guest that appreciates an artisanal focus on food and drink.”
The Brewhouse, including its retail store, will be open seven days a week, and also offer guided tours and tastings by McOustra.
