Arts & Science Brewing formed by Nickel Brook and Collective Arts at former Lakeport facility
Hamtilton, ON – Nickel Brook Brewing Co. and Collective Arts Brewing today announced the formation of its new partnership brewery, Arts & Science Brewing Ltd. to be located in former Lakeport brewery in Hamilton, ON.
“The collaborative Arts & Science Brewery will brew both Collective Arts Brewing and Nickel Brook Brewing beers and is equally owned by the two companies. Derived from the “ARTS” in Collective Arts and the “SCIENCE” from Nickel Brook Brewing’s mantra “A Miracle of Science,” the name highlights that both art and science are critical in brewing outstanding, quality craft beer,” writes Collective Arts.
Brewing equipment for Arts & Science Brewing Ltd. was purchased by Collective Arts and Nickel Brook from Sleeman’s now defunct Dartmouth, Nova Scotia brewery earlier this winter and has begun to arrive in Hamilton.
The 50,000 sq.-ft. brewery, located at 201 Burlington St. E. in at Hamilton’s Port authority, is slated to be open by Fall 2014. It will be owned equally by Nickel Brook and Collective Arts.
40,000 sq.-ft. will be allocated for brewing operations, outfitted with brewing equipment sourced from the defunct Sleeman brewery in Dartmouth, NS. The remaining 10,000 sq.-ft will feature hospitality and retail, including a gallery and live music space.
“The old Lakeport building was meant to be a brewery,” says John Romano, co-founder of Nickel Brook Brewing Co. “The 50,000 square foot space will become our main brewing site, essential in increasing production and meeting the demands of our beer lovers on a larger scale.”
