Beau’s 5k run raises $30,000 for Ovarian Cancer Canada

Vankleek Hill – The third annual Beau’s 5K for Ovarian Cancer Canada raised $30,000 for ovarian cancer research this weekend, amounting to a total of $45,058 since its inception.

241 participants each covered the 5K distance either walking or running at the fundraising event, which started and finished at Beau’s Brewing Co.

The event was inspired in 2015 by Vankleek Hill local and running enthusiast Ashley Cowan, and her own diagnosis and journey with ovarian cancer.

“The Beau’s 5K in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada is quickly becoming an annual tradition and we are grateful to the powerhouse team of volunteers bringing forward the event again this year,” says Elisabeth Baugh, CEO of Ovarian Cancer Canada. “Funds raised enable important programs in support, awareness and research to address ovarian cancer and help ensure that women with this disease live fuller, better and longer lives.”

Beau’s Brewery announced last year a 10-year goal of raising $5 million for charity.
