Beer Academy introduces Baltic Porter, re-releases Belgian Maple
Beer Academy of Toronto, ON today announced the launch of its Baltic Porter and return of its Belgian Maple.
Using a lager yeast with four malts and Nugget hops, Beer Academy’s Baltic Porter measures at 9.3% ABV with 21 IBUs.
“Baltic Porter was brewed with as much malt as we can fit in our mash tun. Literally!” says head brewer, Stephen Rich. “This combined with a large portion of dark, roasted and caramelized malt, as well as a clean fermenting Lager Yeast has created a richly flavoured Lager that resembles an Imperial Stout in complexity, but still shows off the smooth clean sensations of lager fermentation.”
Rich says to expect flavours of mokah, dark espresso, bakers chocolate and toffee with a balancing bitter cocoa and cold coffee.
Beer Academy’s returning Belgian Maple is brewed in the Beglian Dark Ale style with added maple syrup finishing at 7.5% with 15 IBUs.
“Belgian Maple glows a russet sunset orange colour mixed with a shade of mahogany underneath a large tan foam cap,” explains Rich. “Aromas radiate showcasing rich toffee, sweet caramelization and round notes of maple syrup. The flavour follows suit adding to it rum raisins, bananas, and generous spice and fruit from the Belgian Yeast.”
Both Belgian Maple and Baltic Porter are available now at Beer Academy in 625mL bottles.
