Beer Academy releases new Imperial Stout

Toronto, ON – Beer Academy has announced the release of its new Imperial Stout.

Brewed with ten different malts and Chinook hops, this Imperial Stout weighs in at 9% ABV with 50 IBUs.

“I’ve wanted to do this for a long time,” says head brewer Stephen Rich. “We brewed this over 6 months ago and let it mature carefully to round out flavours and alcohol.

“This was a crazy brewday,” continues Rich. “Normally we fit about 200 to 250kg of malt into our mash tun, on a stronger brew we fit 300. This was 362kg in total! I even had to yell upstairs to Stewart to stop milling cause we ran out of space… This literally filled the mash tun to the brim.”

Look for aromas of bitter chocolate, toasted bread and fruit with flavours of roasted grain, bakers chocolate, coffee and tart cherry followed by vanilla, dark caramel and nougat, according to the brewery.

Beer Academy’s Imperial Stout is available now on draught at the brewery and will be available in 625mL bottles starting November 21, 2014.
