Black Creek releases Sweet Potato Autumn Ale
Toronto’s Black Creek Historic Brewery today announced the release of its new Sweet Potato Autumn Ale.
“The high starch content of the sweet potato makes it a good addition to the mash – much of that starch will turn into a fermentable sugar, which the yeast just love”, attributes brewmaster Ed Koren.
The flavours, according to Black Creek, are reminiscent of its Pumpkin Ale – boasting an orange-amber hue, with notes of clove, cinnamon, and other spice additions at an ABV of 5%.
Sweet Potato Autumn Ale is available now at the brewery in 2L growlers for $18 including deposit.
In July, Norfolk County based Ramblin’ Road Brewery Farm released an ale based around Dakota Pearl potatoes.
