Block 3 launches Hype foeder-aged rustic saison

St Jacobs – Block Three Brewing Co. announced today they are releasing a new foeder-aged rustic saison called Hype, this week.

Hype was brewed using pilsner malt and flaked wheat with Nugget hopsthen aged for several months in Block 3’s oak foeder with a special yeast blend and several strains of brettanomyces and lactobacillus.

The bottle-conditoined beer is hlighly tart, with a strong brett funk and fruity aroma and a low level of oak tannins, according to the brewery.

Brewmster Kevin Freer explains,” utilizing a revolutionary ‘crown and cage’ process, a cage is placed over the crown to ensure a steady enclosure to contain Carbonation, and remove oxygen ingress, potentially allowing for a longer aging time compared to normally capped bottles.” Freer adds, “a wax dipped bottom ensures even thermal insulation for the yeast during the bottle conditioning process. Yeast naturally settles to the bottom of the bottle, and we wanted to make it as comfortable for them as possible. Yeast does not like to be stressed.”

Hype will be available at 11am on Thursday June 29, 2017 in 500ml bottles for $7 each.

Each bottle, featuring artwork by local artist Michael Palmer, is hand-signed by retail store manager Drew Chester.

Finally, Freer stated, “the beer finished at 0.4P which is savage.”
