Brick Brewing says brewery is greenest in North America
Kitchener – Brick Brewing Co. today reported an assessment of the energy and environmental performance of its new brewhouse.
“This new facility represents a giant stride forward for the brewing industry in the critical areas of energy, waste and water management. We now use 52% less thermal energy, 32% less electricity, 48% less water and produce 80% less wastewater all while increasing our output by 300%,” said Russell Tabata, Brick COO.
“We worked closely with Krones the world’s leading manufacturer of brewhouse equipment to develop a peerless, environmentally sensitive solution,” stated George Croft, President and CEO. “This is one of the most resource efficient brewhouse in the world, and the first of its kind in North America. This equipment represents the vanguard of heat recovery and reuse, materials utilization and waste recovery.
Brick’s brewhouse, which also produces its Waterloo Brewing brand, opened in Fall 2015.
