Calm Before the Storm English-style mild back from Amsterdam
Toronto’s Amsterdam Brewery announced today its 3.2% ABV English-style mild, Calm Before the Storm, is back for its Fall seasonal run.
“In the spring of 2012, we released a batch of Tempest that sold through our retail store like a 200km/h wind gust from such a storm, so we brewed it again”, Amsterdam says.
“Coming from the same brew as Tempest, Calm Before the Storm gives beer drinkers a very unique chance to try two completely different beers that originally began as one.”
“After transferring the wort for Tempest into the kettle, our brewers ran hot water over the same grain bed to collect the remaining residual sugars. These ‘second runnings’ were then fermented with a different yeast strain and hopped with Styrian Goldings.”
Calm Before the Storm goes on sale today, Friday, September 6 at the Amsterdam Brewery in Toronto’s Leaside neighbourhood and the Amsterdam BrewHouse on Queens Quay in individual 355 mL bottles priced at $2.50.
Draught availability begins Monday, September 9 at the BrewHouse.
