Cameron’s releases new rum barrel-aged Obsidian Imperial Porter to LCBO

camerson-obsidianCameron’s Brewing Co. of Oakville, ON today announced the release of its new Obsidian Imperial Porter, aged 7 months in Caribbean-sourced rum barrels.

Obsidian is “a dark black volcanic glass that is formed when molten lava is quickly cooled when immersed in water,” described Cameron’s President and Co-Owner, Bill Coleman.

It measures at 9.2% ABV with flavours of roasted malt, chocolate, and wood.

“Cameron’s was granted the unique opportunity to procure Caribbean rum barrels, a rare find.  Our challenge was to create a barrel aged, island-style export beer.  This is our interpretation of a dark, strong and intriguing beer from the Caribbean. Historical records recount that dark, strong beers were always very popular in the southern climes for their life-giving properties,” says Jason Britton, Brewmaster at Cameron’s.

Obsidian Imperial Porter Rum Barrel Aged will be available at LCBO (#344036) beginning Wednesday, May 8 alongside on draught in selected bars in Ontario.
