Cassel Brewery awarded $55,000 from Eastern Ontario Development Program
Casselman, ON-based Cassel Brewery has been awarded with a $55,000 grant as part of the Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation (PRCDC) through the Eastern Ontario Development Program, announced Friday.
“Cassel Brewery is a great example of local entrepreneurship and I am happy to announce funding that will enable them to move on to the next step,” said MP Pierre Lemieux. “Small businesses are important economic engines of our local economy, as they support employees, families and our communities.”
Cassel, launched in July 2012, plans to utilize the funds to deploy a bottling line, allowing them to reach more establishments and enter the LCBO.
“We are extremely pleased to receive this funding, and very thankful for the support this brings. It will allow us to evolve our business much faster and expand throughout the region,” says Casell’s events and finance manager, Benjamin Bercier.
The Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation is part of 61 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in Ontario. The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) works with the 37 CFDCs in rural Eastern and Southern Ontario.
The EODP (FedDev) is a federal program that promotes economic development in eastern Ontario, leading to a diversified and competitive regional economy with successful businesses and prosperous communities. It has been a catalyst in many communities by encouraging new projects and community plans, mobilizing community stakeholders and helping to form partnerships.
