Church-Key releases Namastale Gruit
Campbellford, ON – Church-Key Brewing Co. this week released Namastale – its Finnish Sahti-style gruit ale – to celebrate International Gruit Day on February 1. A gruit is hopped with herbs and spices in place of hops.
“On the brew day , we lined the bottom of the mash tun with a basket weave of juniper boughs , then mashed Canadian Two row barley and our own heated well water, the aroma of pine filled the room. rosemary was added to the kettle to add depth to the spice. The result is piney with focaccia aromatics accenting the sweet two row malt,” writes Church-Key’s John Graham.
Measuring at 6.5% ABV with 0 IBUs, Namastale is available now in 650mL bottles through Churh-Key’s retail store and on draught in select establishments in Ontario.
