Church-Key teams up on beer-cider hybrid
Campbellford, ON – Church-Key Brewing Co. and Brighton’s Empire Cider have paired up to produce a new beer and cider hybrid dubbed Holy Cow.
The ale + cider blend comes in at 6% ABV and tastes akin to a bruise apple, according to Inside Belleville’s story
Church-Key’s Brewmaster John Graham explained,”to my knowledge we’re the first ones to blend in the kettle, do a full boil and full ferment together.”
About 1800 litres was brewed at Graham’s brewery in Campbellford using jurice from a five-apple blend provided by Empire Cider, according to Inside Bellville.
Holy Crow will go on sale soon at both Church-Key and Empire Cider’s retail stores along with various other establishments across Ontario.
In September, a similar project was undertaken by Clifford Brewing, West Avenue Cider Co., and Revel Cider in Triple XXX – a full cider but aggressively hopped in the IPA fashion.
