Clear Valley Hops launches Web store for 2013 hop harvest
Situated in the Village of Nottawa, ON at the base of the Blue Mountains, Clear Valley Hops Plantation boasts 18 varietals of hops across 13 acres of farmland and the claim of Canada’s largest, independent hop plantation.
With 75 acres of land at their disposal, owners Laurie and John Craig employ a full hop processing facility including a state-of-the-art whole leaf pellitizer in conjunction with a nitrogen flush vacuum sealing process.
“We dry at low heat and we use a unique whole leaf pelletizing process that preserves the oil and lupulin, as compared to the pellets from the Pacific Northwest*. This type of whole leaf pelletizing was recently invented by a Canadian in P.E.I.”, says Clear Valley.
The Craigs have also cultivated a new, native hop called Wild Turkey, a high-alpha bittering variety which they plan to offer commercially in the future.
Clear Valley will beging to take orders through their new Web store for their 2013 harvest slated for August. Their hops will be sold in 4oz, 1lb and 11lb packages. Wet hops are also available upon request.
