CNE hosts 17 food trucks with Muskoka craft beer cheese sauce on hand
Via The Toronto Star:
From Thursday to Sunday, the Ex will host a food truck rally, with 17 trucks parked along Princes’ Blvd. just inside the Princes’ Gates.
The rally is part of a strategy to bring a different audience to the fair, said CNE general manager David Bednar. “Our sense is that the young professionals who are out there in the blogosphere and Twittersphere are following this trend, and we want to see if we can attract them to the Ex.”
Michael Knott, concessions co-ordinator, keeps tabs on food trends and pitched the rally, which comes with a Molson-sponsored bar. “The food trucks are using different cultural foods, mixing and matching them together and creating different experiences, and we at the CNE are in the experience business,” Knott said.
Rollin on the River Muskoka BBQ, a trailer from Washago, will be in this city for the first time and chef/owner Becky Lennerton plans just two dishes. Elk sausages come on a sesame bun with arugula, goat feta and cranberry compote. Bison burgers will be dolled up with pickled onions, onion sprouts, barbecue sauce and a Muskoka craft beer cheese sauce.
