Craft beer trucks may come to Toronto parks in 2018
Toronto – Toronto’s Parks and Environment Committee is considering introducing mobile craft beer trucks to the city’s parks in 2018.
The idea was inspired by Parks on Tap in Philadephia – a traveling beer garden that launched in 2016 which visits 20 different parks for 20 weeks.
“The program brings people together of all ages and activates the city’s parks, including smaller neighbourhood parks and public spaces,” writes Beaches-East York councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon to councillors in August, according to CTV News.
CP24 reports that it is not known if Philadelphia’s model could work in Toronto due to Ontario’s liquor laws, which is why the study is being commissioned.
In Ontario, licensed fenced-off areas are required in public, outdoor settings when serving alcohol.
A committee vote will be held Friday September 8, 2017 and if approved, the study would be submitted in January 2018.
