Craft beer week offers flavourful new creations

The first National Capital Craft Beer Week is proof Ottawa’s craft brewing scene is growing at light speed, says one local brewer adding the industry is still “in diapers” despite the growth.
One reason craft brews are exploding, say beer aficionado and Metro beer columnist Jeff O’Reilly, is that people are now more aware of the potential of food and beer pairings.
“People are more comfortable with what beer has to offer and how it related to food,” he said. “In comparison to wine, beer affords you more opportunity to expand flavours and styles.”
“All these different craft brews are different styles and going in different directions,” he said of city’s newest flavours. “The state of brewing is alive and well in Ottawa.”
Taste these local creations at National Capital Craft Beer Week August 17 to 18 outside Ottawa City Hall.
