World record attempt for Fastest Marathon dressed as a Lumberjack
Toronto – Dan Grant, cofounder of RunTOBeer, has announced he is attempting the Guinness World Record for Fastest Marathon (Male) dressed as a Lumberjack, for charity, during the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
Grant, who has teamed up with Great Lakes Brewery, will adorn full the full attire of Gordie Levesque – the lumberjack mascot appearing on label artwork for Great Lakes’ Canuck Pale Ale.
Wearing a toque, flannel shirt, suspenders, denim pants and lace-up boots, while carrying an axe, Grant must finish the 42.2 kilometre course under 4:15:00 (four hours and fifteen minutes).
He is also, of course, currently growing a natural beard of which Grant notes, “The beard look like a scared hobo cat lunged at my face, but I’m confident it’ll be a nice, full, wet dog by mid-October.”
“We’re pleased to be working with Dan again on another one of his charitable endeavours,” said Peter Bulut, Owner and President of Great Lakes Brewery. “It’s going to be great watching him shatter the record dressed as our beloved Gordie Levesque and we know the cans of Canuck Pale Ale he’s consuming, while training, will propel him forward.”
A charity fundraiser benefiting Good Foot Delivery will be hosted by Great Lakes Brewery on Thursday September 14, 2017 – As an official warmup event for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, runners from across the region are invited to join RunTOBeer for a 3k, 5k or 10k run, ending at Great Lakes Brewery.
