Facelift for one of Canada’s oldest breweries Lion Brewery

Kitchener – The Lion Brewery, founded 172 years ago in 1842, is undergoing a fresh facelift – including new brewing space and hefty signage – according to The Record.
Part of the Huether Hotel at 59 King St in Waterloo, the Lion Brewery has been operating in its current state by the Adlys family who purchased in it 1953.
The old brewing space will be converted into a parking lot, according to the article. A new, ~8,000kg sign was hoisted into place today, says The Record.
“Long before the spread of craft beer makers — and the associated images of bearded, plaid-clad, tattooed hipsters making pumpkin flavoured ales — the Huether Hotel was brewing its own beer,” writes The Record. “Large glass doors will give passersby a direct view of the beer-making operations inside the brewery. From inside the Lion Brewery Restaurant in the basement of the hotel, there will be an area where patrons can watch the brewmaster at work.”
A firm timeline for finalization was not immediately announced.
