Food, cider, gluten-free, guide tours, and art on tap for Cask Days 2013

cask-days-2013Further details have been released for Cask Days 2013, Canada’s largest annual cask-conditioned craft beer festival which returns in its 9th year at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20.

Over 200 cask ales from 100 Canadian craft brewers will be served alongside a new International Brewery Feature including 36 beers from the UK.

Extensive Showcase of One-Off Beers from Breweries Across Canada
There will be approximately 100 beers from Ontario, 40 brews from Quebec, 17 represented from Albertan breweries (the first time this province is represented at Cask Days), 14 beers from the Maritimes, 15 casks from British Columbia and 5 cask conditioned ales from Manitoba.

UK International Brewery Feature
For the first time, Cask Days steps outside of North America and will feature 38 beers from 26 breweries across the United Kingdom. Highlights include Magic Rock, Thornbridge and Siren Craft Brew.

Ciders & Gluten Free Ales
This year’s festival will have an area reserved specifically for cask conditioned ciders and gluten free beers. Sprit Tree and West Ave. are two of the cider producers and breweries featured.

Cask Days Tasting & Guided Tour with Stephen Beaumont
Author of World Atlas of Beer and The Pocket Beer Guide, Stephen Beaumont will be hosting and conducting a special tasting and guided tour series throughout the festival.

Restaurant Bar Isabel Headlines the Food Program
Toronto’s newest hotspot for dining, Bar Isabel will be sharing their love of pairing food & drink at this year’s Cask Days. Lead by Executive & Owner Chef Grant van Gameran (founder of The Black Hoof), anticipate sexy bar snacks lined up next to a featured cask ale cocktail at this years festival.

IPA Challenge Final Four
Earlier this year 32, India Pale Ales were served blind and competed in a single elimination bracket tournament. The final four IPAs: House Ales Westside IPA, Flying Monkeys Pink Dime, Hopfenstark Post Colonial, and Left Field Resin Bag will face off head to head, the champion determined by a national audience.

Featured Artist Kellen Hatanaka
Reaching out into the greater creative design community, featured Toronto Artist Kellen Hatanaka (Third and Ten http://cargocollective.com/thirdandten& Weekly Crop http://weeklycrop.tumblr.com/) has been brought on board this year’s Cask Days program to add his fresh style and perspective to the festivals’ overall vibe.

Save The Cask: Sunday, October 20th (5pm-10pm) – Show your Cask Days glass from any previous session for admittance. All remaining cask beers for $5.00 for a 16oz pint
