Griffin Gastropub introduces Lemon Sage Ale and Chocolate Vanilla Blueberry Milk Stout
In August, attendees of the Griffin Session Muskoka were asked to vote for their favourite in a collection of collaborative beers brewed by staff at the Griffin Gastropub in Bracebridge, ON, with assistance from Sawdust City brewmaster, Handsome Sam Corbeil.
The Carney – a Lemon Sage Belgian-style Golden ale – took the top spot. The Carney meshes dried lemon peel, fresh lemon zest and sage into a 7% ABV, 25 IBU package.
The runner-up, Griffin Summer Stout, is a Chocolate Vanilla Blueberry Milk Stout brewed with cocoa powder, vanilla, blueberry extract and lactose finishing at 7% ABV with 34 IBUs.
“It’s like chocolate cake drizzled with blueberry sauce,” says Corbeil of the Griffin Summer Stout. “It’s like velvet,” adds Jed Corbeil, co-founder of Griffin Sessions and the Griffin Gastropub.
Both beers will be released in limited runs on draught at the Griffin Gastropub beginning Thursday, December 5 and distributed in bottles to subscribers of Amazing Club’s Beer Club.
Bottles of The Carney Lemon Sage Golden Ale will be up for grabs as part of the MomnHops Holiday Hamper Giveaway 2013 launching this December.
