Gruit-style Bog Water seasonal back from Beau’s

Beau’s All Natural Brewing will release its winter seasonal, Bog Water, on Thursday, November 29.

Bog Water, a gruit-style beer, is brewed with sweet gale in place of hops. Gale, a wild herb, offers milder bitterness with notes of pepper and herbs. A Belgian trappist yeast is used yielding a taste similar to a Belgian dubbel.

“We actually do add one single hop pellet in order to meet the definition of what is considered ‘beer.’ But that’s just a technicality; it’s definitely a non-hopped beer,” exclaims chuckles Beau’s brewmaster Matt O’Hara.

The sweet gale sourced for this year’s Bog Water was hand-harvested from wetlands Northern Ontario and Quebec, found in boggy, swampy sears sometimes accessible only by canoe.

Look for 600mL bottles of Bog Water, for $4.35 each, at the LCBO, direct from the brewery, and on also draught at selected pubs across Ontario.
