HogsBack introduces Aporkalypse Now Oatmeal Bacon Stout
HogsBack Brewing Co. of Ottawa has revealed what may be a first in Ontario – an Oatmeal Bacon Stout.
Aporkalypse Now joins the brewery’s Limited Edition series of seasonal beers at 5.5% ABV
“For winter we were thinking of brewing a nice smooth Oatmeal Stout and thought what would be better than that?” says Paige Cutland, co-owner of HogsBack.
Based on the adage “Everthing tasts better with bacon”, HogsBack utilized over 13kg of bacon, sourced locally from Pork of Yore, for every 780L back of beer. The bacon was fried prior to addition.
Aporkalypse Now is available only in February on draught at select locations in Ontario. A launch party is slated for Friday, February 8 from 5-7pm at Heart & Crown (353-B Preston Street, Ottawa).
