Hop samples request for University of Guelph research

Guelph, ON – The University of Guelph (UofG) will begin collecting 100 samples of locally-grown hops for a research program designed to develop baseline data for hop profiles in Ontario.

UofG researchers are requesting that any Ontario hop growers submit up to 10 samples per farm at a minimum size of 15 g (~1/2 oz.). There is no cost to participate in testing.

Growers will receive an individual report for the samples they submit. Public research reports will not identify growers directly but rather group analytical results in general categories for confidentiality.

The research is part of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs New Directions initiative. Samples will also be collected in 2015.

Ontario hop growers interested in participating please lease email Cathy Bakker (U of G) cbakker@uoguelph.ca or Evan Elford (OMAFRA) evan.elford@ontario.ca for further instructions.
