Katalyst Brewing sells core brand, announces new Muskoka brewery

Toronto – Katalyst Brewing Co. said today that their flagship beer – Symington Saison – has been sold, while they begin to solely focus on building a new brewery in Muskoka region.

Henderson Brewing Co. in Toronto will take ownership of the Symington Saison brand, which has been brewed on contract since launching in December 2016.

“After looking for spaces in the City of Toronto for more than a year, and having several fall through, we have decided to pursue opening a location in Muskoka.  While we are tremendously proud and attached to the Symington Saison brand, we did not feel that it was honest to mislead our loyal customers with a Toronto-branded beer, brewed in Muskoka,” explain Katalyst Brewing owners Mark Verok and Krystal Perepeluk.

The beer is named after Symington Avenue in Toronto.

They add, “Not wanting the brand to disappear, we decided to pursue transferring production of the Symington Saison brand and could not think of a better fit than Henderson Brewing Company.”

The company is currently in the process of securing a 4,500 sq-ft building lease – the brewery will feature a 5hl brewhouse, tap room, and retail store.
