Kenora’s Lake of the Woods Brewing coming June 2013
The 16,500 residents of Kenora in Northwestern Ontario will soon have a brewpub retro-fitted into their Heritage Fire hall.
The man behind the revival of Lake of the Woods Brewing Co., Taras Manzie, presented a status update today at their monthly property and planning meeting, requesting a 6-month development extension. The extension is a results of unexpected demolition complications, including lead paint and asbestos, and acquiring the licensing necessary to brew and sell their product on premises.
Lake of the Woods is now targeting a June 2013 launch.
A patio for 50 people is in the plans, in addition to the second floor event space for another 50.
Lake of the Woods will initially brew three styles of beer, including an IPA, a Belgian blonde, and a seasonal.
Lake of the Woods Brewing was originally in operation during the early 1900s.
The Heritage Fire hall will be open September 28 and 29 as it participates in the annual Doors Open Ontario festival, permitting guided tours of the fire hall.
