King’s Lock Craft Distillery opens in Eastern Ontario
Johnstown – King’s Lock Craft Distillery is now open in Johnstown – a community south of Ottawa in the township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal at 5 Newport Dr., coinciding with the launch of neighbour Windmill Brewery.
The new distillery, operated by Joey Kelly, Rob Heuvel and Laura Bradley, is part of a new 6000 sq-ft facility that it shares with Windmill Brewery.
“In addition to using local, organic grains, King’s Lock Craft Distillery has several environmental initiatives in place, including grain mash recycling for use in cattle feed, fertilizer and more, installation of energy-efficient LED lighting, a water reclamation process and choosing both green electricity and green natural gas with Bullfrog Power,” says an article in The Review.
It currently offers a vodka and white rye whisky through its retail store, with plans to distill rum, gin and more in the future.
