Large contract brewing facility opening in southwestern Ontario
London – A new brewery aimed specifically at contract brewing called Equals Brewing Company is planned for London on Sovereign Rd, states the London Free Press.
Contract brewing is when a company “rents” space at a physical brewery to brew their beer – also, some established breweries can also outsource when requiring extra production of a beer.
It is an $8- to $10 million project being undertaken by Southwest Sun Group, an investment partnership, that is set to break ground during January 2018 in a nearly 40,000 sq-ft building.
Equals Brewing has enlisted Justin McKellar, a former Labatt brewer, to oversee brewing operations and a tank farm boasting up to 20 vessels, according to the London Free Press.
The brewery is targeted to be operational by April 2018.
Two facilities in Toronto already follow the same contract-focused function – Common Good Brewing and Brunswick Bierworks.
