LCBO holiday sales pass $1 billion

Toronto, ON – Holiday sales in 2014 topped more than $1 billion the LCBO today reported, with more than 1 million more transactions than in 2013.

The exact figure – $1,002,863,000 – is calculated from sales between the second week of November through to the first week of January 2015, up 5.1% from 2013.

Ontario craft beer accounted for $12.7 million of the total. The overall beer category clocked in at $157.5 million.

“Holiday generally represents about 20 per cent of the LCBO’s total annual sales and this year we surpassed the billion-dollar mark, helped in part by less harsh winter weather, compared to last year, and more disposable income due to lower gas prices,” said Bob Peter LCBO President & CEO.

“Strong holiday sales growth will contribute to our ability to return another record financial dividend to the government.”
