LCBO strike averted, stores remain open

Toronto – The LCBO and Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) tonight successfully reached a tentative agreement averting a strike, according to OPSEU.

The terms of the agreement will be presented by OPSEU to LCBO employees for ratification followed by ratification by the LCBO’s Board of Directors and the Government of Ontario.

All LCBO stores will open as normal on Monday June 26, 2017.

The LCBO has never experienced a strike in its 91 years of operation. In 2013, an LCBO strike was similarly averted the evening of the strike deadline. A strike was also halted in June 2009.

For Canada Day, Saturday July 1, 2017 all LCBO stores will be closed.

On Sunday July 2, 2017 over 450 stores across Ontario will open from as early as 9am to as late as 11pm.
