Manitoulin startup Split Rail Brewing launches Kickstarter campaign

split-railManitoulin Island, ON – A new Kickstarter campaign launched last week by Manitoulin Island brewery startup Split Rail Brewing Co. aims to raise $55,000 to complete its funding.

Funds would be used for brewery equipment, startup costs, and to help build equity for other further funding. The brewery aims to build in Kagawong township, and would feature a 15 hecolitre brewhouse with a retail store and tasting area.

“We have been working on opening a micro-brewery on Manitoulin for four years. We make our beer in our garage and it is excellent beer if we do say so ourselves,” says Split Rail. Restaurant and bar owners, as well as many others knowledgeable in the craft beer industry, agree and everyone who tastes it is keen to sell or drink our suds”

“Funding the significant start-up costs of a commercial brewery is complicated and although we expect several provincial job creation and rural economic development programs to support us and we are also exploring private equity options, we are still short $55k.”

Learn more about the brewery and the full campaign details, complete with video, at Kickstarter. Campaign ends on March 21, 2014.
