New Highlander brewery now open in South River

South River – Highlander Brew Co. has announced its new brewery is now open at 309 B Hwy 124 in South River.
The new $2.9 million brewery, funded by FedNor, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, and the Village of South River, replaces the Howard St facility opened in 2009 by brewmaster Brian Wilson. Brewing capacity has been upped to 5000 hectolitres in the nearly 10,000 sq-ft building.
“Rather than move away, we decided to stay in South River. With the support of the local and regional communities, Highlander will create a Destination Brewery that will encourage tourism in the area and provide a focal point for music, art and social events,” says Highlander’s President, Dwayne Wanner.
The brewery’s new retail store is open as of today – Friday October 7, 2016 – offering bottles of Scottish Ale, Wee Heavy and Blacksmith Smoked Porter.
Operating hours are Wed-Sun 11am-9pm
