New Limburg Brewing coming to Nixon in Norfolk County

nixon-public-new-limburgNixon, ON – Norfolk County city council has approved zoning for a new brewery – New Limburg Brewing – to be located in the community of Nixon, reports the Simcoe Reformer.

Father and son team, Jo and Mischa Gevens, who came to Norfolk County via Holland and Belgium, plan to specialize in Belgian-style beers.

The brewery’s name, New Limburg, refers to the southern-most province in Holland where Gevens are from, according to the Simcoe Reformer. Trappist-style beers and Saisons are currently in the works.

“We want to make more flavourful beers – beer that might be an acquired taste,” says Mischa to the Simcoe Reformer. “We’re interested in the Trappist kind of beers. They are more flavourful. They are usually higher in alcohol and they will be darker.”

The brewery would be set up in the former Nixon Public School. No further details were immediately available about production size or retail.
