Online ordering of craft beer becoming trend in Ontario
Car in the shop? Bleeding feet? Bike missing a spoke? Don’t fret – online ordering of beer for home delivery is on the trend.
Cool Beer Brewing of Toronto today announced it now offers home delivery of its beer ranging from Fort Erie up to Penatanguishene.
There are limitations, though. Delivery at locations outside the GTA are only available on certain weekdays; sometimes only one day per week. For locations inside the GTA, 24-hour advance ordering is required. All orders that fall under $100 are subject to a $16.95 delivery fee, but those over $100 are shipped at no charge.
Residents of Caledonia, for instance, can only take delivery on Fridays during the month, whereas those living in Burlington have the option of receiving their orders on a Tuesday or Friday. Inner GTA residents have the convenience of delivery Monday to Saturday.
In terms of selection, Cool offers their Cool Lager, Milennium Buzz Hemp, and Stonewall Light in addition to Duggan’s No. IPA and Sorachi Lager, Saint Andre Vienna Lager, and Denison’s Weissbier and Dunkel, which are all contract-brewed at Cool.
The delivery game, however, is not a new fad.
Beau’s All Natural Brewing in Vankleek Hill is a veteran in the online ordering field through its Buy Your Own Beau’s (BYOB) service which caters to Western, Eastern, and Central Ottawa. Almost its entire lineup is available for delivery. Beau’s charges a $15 delivery free of which 100% is donated to Operation Come Home.
In June, Steam Whistle teamed with grocery home delivery service Grocery Gateway to offer online ordering ,of its Pilsner in 12-, 6-, and single tallboy formats. Mill St. Brewery followed suit in July announcing it too would offer its line through Grocery Gateway, including its Cobblestone Stout, Lemon Tea Ale, Organic Lager, Tankhouse Ale, Coffee Porter, Belgian Wit and Stock Ale in 12- and 6-packs and 440 mL or 473 mL cans.
Steam Whistle, meanwhile, already runs its own
independent home delivery service offering 24-packs of bottles or cans up to 50L kegs. In Toronto, the brewery will deliver a keg for $50, or $60 in surrounding areas. Bottles are $15 per case or $50 for 3 cases or more.
Bracebridge’s Muskoka Brewery offers online ordering solely of its vintage 2011 Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout housed in a locally sourced wooden tube that ships throughout Ontario. Currently, this is the brewery’s online online offering.
