Ontario halting all brewery licensing until January 2016 [April Fools’ Day]

Ottawa, ON – The three levels of government responsible for licensing microbreweries in the province – AGCO, CRA, and Minstry of Finance – jointly announced today new moratorium is in effect immediately for all new microbrewery applications in Ontario due to the severe increase in demand and administrative backlog.

“There are nearly 150 new microbrewery and brewpub applications in our pipeline and we simply cannot meet the demand,” reported the agencies.

The AGCO and CRA will not issue new Excise or manufacturers licenses until January 1, 2017 according to the news release.

All current applications submitted prior to March 31, 2015 will still be processed, said the agencies.
