Ontario Hopspiel brings together brewing community for charity

curlingThe first annual Ontario Hopspiel will see 16 teams of brewing industry and community battle on the ice at the Royal Canadian Curling Club in Toronto during a one-day tournament on Friday, March 15 beneftting the Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto.

Organizers Crystal Luxmore, beer writer, and Doug Pengelly, brewmaster at Junction Craft Brewing, rallied together to garner the support of the brewing industry with hefty raffle and prize donations.

Some of the participating teams include folks from Au Sibin Pub, Black Oak Brewing Company, Cheshire Valley Brewing Company, Creemore Springs Brewery, Indie Alehouse, Junction Craft Brewing, Kensington Brewing Company, Labatt Breweries of Canada, McClelland Premium Imports, Mill Street Brewery, Steam Whistle Brewery, The Granite Brewery, and The Only Café.

Spectators are warmly welcome to watch from the bar or the second-floor gallery of The Royal at 131 Broadview Avenue from 1-4:30pm.
