Ottawa’s first microcidery Flying Canoe launches
Ottawa – Flying Canoe Hard Cider has announced it’s flagship cider is now available, billing itself as Ottawa’s first microcidery.
Founded by Pete Rainville, Flying Canoe’s first release is a 5% semi-sweet cider produced in small batches with apples sourced and pressed from local orchard Smyth’s Apple Orchard. It recently debuted at Bon Appetite Ottawa.
Rainville describes his cider as, “light and crisp, a little dry with a balanced acidity along, slightly effervescent and with no extra additives.” It’s produced at Flying Canoe’s facility at 11-146 Colonnade Rd in Ottawa, although not currently open to the public.
Flying Canoe Hard Cider will soon be available at better beverage bars in the Ottawa-area as well as local farmers markets, available in 473ml cans.
A launch party is slated for later this Spring.
