All-Ladies at Session Toronto Beer Festival

Via Griffin Events Co.

Today a new partnership between SOCIETY OF BEER DRINKING LADIES and Griffin SESSION Toronto will announce the biggest ALL LADIES craft beer festival: Society of Beer Drinking Ladies does Session T.O on June 11th from 11am – 3pm at Yonge & Dundas Square. Tickets go on sale Friday morning!

SOBDL co-founder Jaime Dobbs remarks “After selling out Canada’s 1st Ladies Craft Beer Festival we knew we wanted to go bigger and give more ladies the chance to experience a festival created just for them and Session is the perfect opportunity to do that. We are so excited to Partner with Griffin SESSION Toronto.”

Festival founders Jed Corbeil & Curt Dunlop are long time friends with SOBDL co-founder Jaime Dobbs, and have watched the women’s events connect local beer in a fun, women-only environment. With many of the same goals, it only makes sense to hand off one of the SESSIONS to celebrate WOMEN and craft beer.

The tickets are being launched Friday March 4th at 11am and can be purchased by going to www.sessiontoronto.com and purchasing tickets to the DAY Session (11am-3pm): a women-only event hosted by “Society of Beer Drinking Ladies, with the same beer/food/music format as the night session. You can also buy tickets at ladiesdrinkbeer.com by clicking the Society of Beer Drinking Ladies do SESSION button.

Co-founder Jed Corbeil remarks – “We are honoured to be working with the SOBDL. They have done so much for proving equality of gender in the ever growing craft beer culture”.

Over the past 2 years, The Society of Beer Drinking Ladies, comprised of five craft beer-loving ladies (Erica Campbell, Jaime Dobbs, Jen Reinhardt, Magenta Suzanne and Ren Navarro) have built a wildly popular, ladies-only, monthly event in Toronto. The Society’s events, held once a month, often sell out hundreds of tick- ets in a matter of days and feature a selection of local craft beer, a local food vendor and a portion of profits donated to the Canadian Women’s Foundation.

Their upcoming bevy happening April 1st at the Evergreen Brick Works is set to be their biggest event to date and has sold out in a matter of hours. This event at Y&D square will allow for twice the capacity for the women to host the largest ladies only craft beer festival in Toronto and tickets are expected to sell out quickly. The SOBDL will also be launching an OCB week collaboration at SESSION with Steam Whistle.

The SESSION Craft Beer Festival was started as a finale to Ontario Craft Beer Week, aiming to bring the hard working craft breweries of Ontario together with all their supporters to celebrate craft beer. With a backdrop of burning cop cars, a torrential storm, and TTC closures, SESSION was born in June 2010. The festival is now in its 7th year, and has outgrown 3 different venues. SESSION will be back at Y&D square on June 11th, 2016. “We are always excited to bring Ontario craft beer to the heart of Toronto as the official opening event for On- tario craft beer week” commented Curt Dunlop – festival co-founder.

Introduced in 2013, Collaboration Nation is a project where craft breweries team with celebrities or community leaders to create a unique beer that is available exclusively at the event. Patrons vote for their favourite beer and the winning beer gets a listing in the LCBO. In 2013, Beau’s All Natural & Tom Green won with The Tom Green Beer – a milk stout. Tom graciously hosted in 2014 event and passed the winning torch to Spearhead & Sam Roberts for their Session Ale entry. 2015 saw Beau’s win again, this time with K-Os, and their Golden Vox collaboration beer. On top of hosting the day session, the SOBDL will also be part of the Collaboration Nation contest this year, as they are partnering with Steamwhistle on a brew.
