Record breaking line-up for an Ontario beer release?
Toronto, ON – Celebrating its third year of operation this weekend, Bellwoods Brewery today released its yearly, limited-edition of Motley Cru in form of a sour red ale barrel-aged with Pinor Noir grapes. Today’s bottle release garnered a perhaps unprecedented lineup of beer lovers for a Canadian-made craft beer – some waiting up to 2 hours in line.
“A mix of wild yeast and bacteria strains lend brett-derived qualities of leather, cherry, and barnyard, and encourage lactic sourness with just a touch of acetic,” describes Bellwoods Brewery of its 2015 edition Motley Crue.
“The pinot noir grapes from Tawse winery were a no brainer to incorporate (stay tuned for more collaborations with Tawse), imparting soft fruity flavours, and ascribing an element of Ontario terroir to the mix. There’s rhubarb, oak, and cantaloupe in the aromatics, with a tantalizing hint of the acidity to follow,” they add.
“The flavour comes in layers, with notes of wild strawberry, rich oak, subtle spice, and sherry, that culminate in a decisive sourness that’s well-rounded and pleasing without being mouth-puckering.”
The limited release is available in 500ml bottles for $13 each.
