Rob Ford announces Ford Nation Brewing in Etobicoke [April Fools’ Day]

BYjvShJCIAEGd5OEtobicoke, ON – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and brother, Doug, this week announced they will foray into the world of craft beer in Ontario.

Ford Nation Brewing Co. will break ground at their Etobicoke brewery in mid-April, targeting a September 2014 opening. The brewery will feature a 25 hectolitre brewhouse used to brew Ford Nation’s flagship lager, a 4.5% ABV American-style lager.

“We took some cues from Molson’s Canadian for our beer,” says Ford. “It’s been my go-to beer since high school and when Dougie and I decided to get into the beer business, I knew I wanted to brew something like it.”

A “gravy” flavoured beer is also in the works, according to Ford.

“Rob and me are both huge fans of the Leafs and the Argos and we wanted a space to share our passion for sports and beer,” explains Doug Ford.

The Fords plan to move the beer into sports bars across the province and eventually the Beer Store, in 473mL cans.
