Seven Ontario Craft Brewers go west for Canada’s biggest beer festival

SEVEN ONTARIO CRAFT BREWERS HEAD WEST FOR CANADA’S BIGGEST BEER FESTIVAL

“Largest Contingency Ever” will bring Ontario Craft Beer to The Great Canadian Beer Festival 2012″

TORONTO (September 3, 2012) – Ontario Craft Beer will flow in British Columbia this September at the Great Canadian Beer Festival being held at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, BC September 7-8th, 2012. http://www.gcbf.com/

“We’re bringing Ontario Craft Beer out west,” says Anetta Jewell, Great Lakes Brewery and member of Ontario Craft Brewers. “We look forward to introducing craft beer fans in BC to the excellence of Ontario’s products and the personality of our industry.”

Participating OCB member breweries will serve a wide selection of their top brands, including:

  • Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co.: Lug Tread, Festivale Altbier Pan Ontario
  • (a bourbon barrel aged blend of four beers from Wellington, Flying Monkeys, Grand River and Great lakes with Beau’s Beaver River).
  • Black Oak Brewery: Saison, Pale Ale
  • Great Lakes Brewery: 25th Anniversary Porter, Karma Citra IPA, 25th Anniversary Belgian Saison
  • Mill Street Brewery: Tankhouse Ale, Organic Lager, Lemon Tea Ale
  • Nickel Brook Brewery: Headstock IPA, Green Apple
  • Steam Whistle Brewing: Pilsner
  • Wellington Brewery: Imperial Stout, County Ale

 
Great Canadian Beer Festival 2012 Chairman Gerry Hieter is thrilled with the participation from Ontario Craft Brewers. “The number of Ontario brewers attending the 20th annual GCBF is the largest contingency ever from the province,” says Hieter. “The GCBF is extremely pleased with the quality and diversification of the beers coming from Ontario and are positive they will add a whole new and welcome element to our festival.”

The East-West collaborative spirit will kick start on September 6 as brewers from Great Lakes Brewery collaborate with Phillips Brewery on a special collaborative brew. Stay tuned; details will be released soon.
