St. Mary Axe launches with Canadian Best Bitter

(St. Mary Axe)
Toronto – St. Mary Axe has launched its flagship beer Canadian Best Bitter, the new contract brewer announced today.
Founded by Steve Dobronyi and Christine Haselmayer, St. Mary Axe’s beers are currently brewed in London, ON under the supervision of English brewmaster Alan Pugsley.
“St. Mary Axe was a medieval church in the old City of London, England. The church was demolished in the 1500’s but the name survives as the street that it formerly occupied. Today, it boasts some of the most modern architecture in the world. St. Mary Axe typifies the dichotomy of our beer – old and new, traditional and modern,” writes the founders of their name.
Six types of malt and six varieties of hops are used in the Canadian Best Bitter (4.6%) recipe, said to have a medium copper hue, flavours of caramel and light toast with a dry finish.
It is available now at The Westerly in Toronto and rolling out to other establishments in the area.
A wider release at the Beer Store is slated for February, followed by the LCBO later in 2017.
