The Star reviews Toronto’s Bar Hop Bar

Bar Hop is understated and purposely so in the interest of not snootifying an otherwise intimidated beer-loving patron. A dark space is accented by antiques such as an old cash register, traffic light and Aunt Antoinette’s piano, topped by empty bottles of beers with amusing labels. The atmosphere is one of subdued, simple elegance and it oozes a DIY spirit — it took about a month for the group to renovate the space themselves, adding tables of reclaimed wood and a bar-

top made of the floorboards of a Milton, Ont., barn. In the back, find a picture of Prohibition-era protesters demanding beer be legalized: reminding us of a more unfortunate generation deprived of lovely suds.

With 24 crafts on tap, a rotating cask and 70 to 100 bottles in the fridge, there’s no shortage of beers to sample at Bar Hop.
