Union launches SHOP LCBO campaign

Toronto – The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), who represents LCBO workers, today announced its new SHOP LCBO campaign, aimed to encourage Ontarians to purchase beer, cider, and wine from the LCBO, instead of through grocery stores.

“When you shop LCBO, the profits pay for important public services. When you shop Loblaws, the profits pay for Galen Weston’s next yacht,” said Warren (Smokey) Thomas.

“We can’t afford to lose the LCBO,” said Denise Davis, chair of OPSEU’s Liquor Board Employees Division. “The profits from LCBO sales help pay for teachers in Cornwall, MRIs in Timmins, highways in Simcoe County, hospitals in Thunder Bay, child care spaces in Toronto, Western University in London, Mohawk College in Hamilton, and more.

OPSEU has launched a campaign Web site at www.SaveTheLCBO.ca
