Wraps off on new Sawdust City brewery

canadian-tire-sawdustSawdust City Brewing Co. has finally found a home in Gravenhurst.

After nearly two years of scouting, negotiation, and legal issues, Sawdust City has announced they will launch their new brewery this fall in a vacant Canadian Tire building at Muskoka Rd. North and Peter St.

Muskoka Wharf on Lake Muskoka was the originally planned location.

The 20,000 square-foot facility allows Sawdust City to migrate its current contract-brewing operation at Black Oak Brewing Co. in Etobicoke. A retail store is planned, with a future brewpub addition.

A new 25 hectolitre (2500 L) brewhouse will be shipped over from DME Prince Edward Island.

Sawdust City’s President, Rob Engman, is a resident of Gravenhurst, while its brewmaster, Sam Corbeil, grew up and lives in Muskoka. The newest addition to their team, brewer Aaron Spinny, will transition from his role at Black Oak overseeing brewing to Gravenhurst.

“It’s been a long trip and we’re eternally grateful for all that Ken and the boys at Black Oak have done for us, but we’re extremely happy and finally coming home to Gravenhurst”, exclaims Corbeil.
